Sir Patrick Stewart shared his thoughts on Huddersfield Town’s season with #HTTV as The Terriers secured its Premier League status for at least another season, describing his emotions at the Chelsea game and the impact of the Town supporters.

Town’s Academy President described his emotions during Wednesday night’s crunch match - of which he attended - with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as Town drew 1-1 to secure its Premier League status.

Sir Patrick described Town’s performance in the Man City and Chelsea games as ‘extraordinary’ and was full of praise for the defensive performance of David Wagner’s side in the both games.

The actor was also full of praise for Town’s support this season, both home and away, explaining how the very same spirit of West Riding was the same spirit that had driven him on in his career.

Speaking to #HTTV, Sir Patrick said:

“My fundamental belief in what David [Wagner] has done here has never been clouded over - never mind being erased – there was a quality of belief, not just on the pitch, but what I’ve seen in the boardroom or when talking to directors, was a quality that set them apart from the very beginning.

“The last two matches have been extraordinary, our performance against Manchester City was absolutely remarkable. From the first whistle when the lads took off, I knew there was something different in the air. Of course, it reminded me of the start of the season; that commitment, purpose, organisation and playing the plan. More than anything else as far as defending is concerned - which we did a lot of – they never gave Man City time on the ball.

“I mostly see away games, the support – I’m not the only one to acknowledge this – I’ve heard visiting coaches say they were unprepared, there's nothing like the support Huddersfield Town get from their fans. I’m so proud of that, that’s the West Riding and that’s what I grew up with. That’s the same spirit that has driven me on in my career."
