‘Deano’ bowed out following his 63rd and final appearance for the Terriers as a second-half substitute for Jonathan Hogg in the game against Arsenal.
Renowned for his combative, tough tackling playing style, Whitehead made over 600 professional appearances across five different clubs over the course of his playing career.
Having retired from playing, Whitehead – who holds a UEFA A coaching license - has moved to become part of David Wagner’s Technical Staff to round off his practical experience before taking charge of Town’s Under-17 side from January 2019.
