Does anyone fancy watching a penalty shoot-out? On this day in 2004, Huddersfield Town beat Mansfield Town in the Division Three Play-Off Final from the penalty spot.

31 May 2004 is a date that resonates with Town fans as the Club sealed promotion from the Third Division at the first attempt under the guidance of Peter Jackson.

The Play-Off Final was an open match, with both sides having a number of opportunities to take the lead, but the score remained level after 120 minutes.

Town, however, was clinical from the spot with Rob Edwards, Danny Schofield and Tony Carss all hitting the back of the net.

Mansfield, on the other hand, missed their first two spot kicks (taken by Wayne Corden and Liam Lawrence), before the third was tucked away by Neil MacKenzie.

The missed penalties meant that Lee Fowler had the chance to fire Town back to Division Two (now League 1) and he duly obliged, before wheeling away to celebrate with his teammates, the supporters and Peter Jackson.
