Supporters name their favourite moments under Head Coach David Wagner

After hearing the news that David Wagner, Christoph Bühler and Andrew Hughes extended their contracts with Huddersfield Town, supporters named their favourite moments under the guidance of all three.

The trio linked up at the start of the Club’s 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship campaign, although Wagner and Bühler had been at Town since November 2015.

Over the last two seasons, Town has been involved in a number of memorable matches, whether that’s last-minute winners, David Wagner running down touchlines, the Play-Off Final or staying in the Premier League!

Here’s the supporters’ top five moment under David Wagner as commented for via @htafcdotcom!

1. Premier League survival at Stamford Bridge

Huddersfield Town secured its Premier League status after a fantastic 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday 9 May 2018. David Wagner’s men performed admirably and took the lead through Laurent Depoitre early in the second half. Despite, Marcos Alonso equalising, a superb defensive effort and some magnificent saves from Jonas Lössl earned Town a point, keeping the Terriers in the top-flight. The final whistle sparked incredible scenes on the pitch at Stamford Bridge.

2. Play-Off Final win at Wembley Stadium

The Terriers won promotion to the Premier League for the first time after beating Reading on penalties in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final. Town started the game well and had to great chances to take the lead, but the match finished 0-0 after 120 minutes. Christopher Schindler stepped up and fired David Wagner’s side into the top-flight, scoring the winning penalty.

3. Beating Manchester United at the John Smith’s Stadium

David Wagner’s Huddersfield Town produced a magnificent display to beat Manchester United at the John Smith’s Stadium – the first time the Terriers beat the Red Devils since the 1951/52 season. Aaron Mooy opened the scoring after a swift breakaway, before Laurent Depoitre doubled the lead latching onto a long ball from Jonas Lössl and rounding David de Gea.

4. The penalty shoot-out win against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough

Huddersfield Town fired itself into the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final after beating Sheffield Wednesday on penalties at Hillsborough. Wednesday took the lead through a guided header from Steven Fletcher before Nahki Wells equalised forcing the game into added time and penalties. Chris Löwe, Michael Hefele, Nahki Wells and Aaron Mooy all scored for Town, whilst Danny Ward saved spot kicks from Sam Hutchinson and Fernando Forestieri to win the match for the Terriers.

5. David Wagner running down the touchline against Leeds United

For the second time during the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship season, David Wagner set off down the touchline to join his players celebrating after a last-minute winner. This time it was against Leeds United as Michael Hefele scored in the 89th minute to secure all three points for Town in the West Yorkshire derby.

Although these were the favourites of the Town supporters, some other notable moments were suggested:
