Huddersfield Town’s Club Ambassador Andy Booth has revealed his five most memorable matches from the Club’s first ever season in the Premier League.

After much deliberation ‘Boothy’ explained to htafc.com why he chose the following matches, which are listed in chronological order.

Crystal Palace 0-3 Huddersfield Town – Saturday 12 August 2017

Boothy: “It was our first ever match in the Premier League, so to go to Crystal Palace – which isn’t any easy place to go – and get a win was unbelievable; we played excellently, and it was fully deserved!

“I think three points on the opening day would’ve been a massive lift to the team, the staff and the fans; it gave us all that belief.

“The Crystal Palace win for me was a massive statement. It told everyone we are here, and we can stay up.”

Huddersfield Town 2-1 Manchester United – Saturday 21 October 2017

Boothy: “I chose this game for obvious reasons, we beat Manchester United! At the start of the season you always look at games where you could potentially pick up points and I don’t think anyone expected us to get any against Manchester United.

“Three points against them was huge and it showed everyone what we were capable of. It would’ve given everyone so much belief that we can compete and get points off these kind of sides. It was an unforgettable game.”

Huddersfield Town 4-1 AFC Bournemouth – Sunday 11 February 2018

Boothy: “We came into this game sitting in the relegation zone, the first and only time we were in the bottom three all season; that’s why this win was so important.

“I think everyone saw this match as a must win because we were on a seven-game winless run and hadn’t been scoring too many goals, so a defeat would really have put the pressure on.

“But I have to say, we performed really well, scored four goals and fired ourselves up the Premier League table to give us some more breathing space. For me, this was one of the most important wins of the season."

Huddersfield Town 1-0 Watford – Saturday 14 April 2018

Boothy: “Watford, what can I say, it was a day full of absolute emotion. It all started with the Chelsea vs Southampton game for me. When Chelsea came back to win from 2-0 down you could sense everyone’s relief, which was immediately followed by belief and I think a similar thing would’ve gone through the minds of the players because I know they were all watching it.

“The game itself wasn’t the best but to score in the last-minute, to win the game, was an unbelievable moment!

“This win practically made us safe and you could sense that in the celebrations on the pitch and after the game.”

Manchester City 0-0 Huddersfield Town – Sunday 6 May 2018

Boothy: “My final choice has to be Manchester City, I know everyone will be wondering why it’s not Chelsea because that was the game that kept us up, but the point at the Etihad was a massive result.

“We were the only team, all season, to stop the Champions from scoring on their own turf, we got the game plan spot on and fully deserved the point.

“The way the lads defended was unbelievable but then to attack and create some very good chances against the Champions was immense.

“That point gave everyone the belief that we could stay up, that we deserved to be in the Premier League and that we could get the job done. I’d go as far as saying that point was a season defying moment for me!”
