Hudson speaks ahead of Bayern Munich U19 clash

- Huddersfield Town Under-19s to face Bayern Munich on Friday
- Game to be played at FCB Campus, Munich; 3.30pm K.O (UK time)
- Hear Mark Hudson’s comments ahead of the game

Mark Hudson will take a Huddersfield Town Under-19 side to Europe on Friday for a game against German Giants, Bayern Munich.

The game will kick off at 3.30pm UK time and be held at the FC Bayern Campus; the Club’s dedicated complex for youth football located in the North of Munich.

Speaking ahead of Friday’s game, Mark Hudson commented:

“We had a free weekend and we had a look at what was possible to do with the fixture, we put out to our contacts and it came about that Bayern were free and wanted a game.

“To be able to take our group on a trip abroad, with a view of this happening next year is exciting for me as a Coach, the Club and the players playing against a top-level Academy setup. The players are going to be coming up against some of the best in Europe, who are possibly going to get into their First Team at some point.

On the importance of the result, Hudson added:

“We talked about results a little while ago, I said that performances bring results; results aren’t the be all or end all, especially at this age. To be able to go to Bayern Munich and see what level we’re at, our focus is really on what we gain from the performance and not what we come away with.

“This will be key for what’s going to happen next year. It will be something that Club have embraced and given them the opportunity to go and do that; which is testament to them. It backs up what the Chairman did with his decision to change it and try a different style and try something new.

“To be able to have this so early, not next year, but already this season is great for the Club and the Academy going forward.”

Friday’s game will not be the last time trip to Germany for the Under-19s this month, as they return just a week later to compete in the Champions Trophy youth tournament in Düsseldorf.

The Huddersfield Town squad travelling to Munich for Friday’s game is as follows:

Luke Mewitt

Romoney Crichlow-Noble
Mason O’Malley
Regan Booty
Scott High
Lewis O’Brien
