Town’s Academy players get taste of First Team football

- Round-up of Town’s loan players
- Dylan Cogill and Jack Boyle start for Clyde FC
- Work experience spells continue for Academy players

With a number of Town’s Academy players gaining First Team experience out on loan, htafc.com caught up with the loanees to see how they have been performing.

Under-23 striker Olly Dyson has been impressing on his work experience spell at Liversedge FC and has since left to go on work experience at Evo-Stik Premier side Shaw Lane.

Dylan Cogill and Jack Boyle – Clyde FC (Scottish League 2)

Dylan Cogill and Jack Boyle (above) both starred for Clyde at the weekend as the Scottish League 2 side ran out 3-0 winners at home to Montrose.

Cogill (below) went close to scoring his first goal for Clyde after he met a corner early in the second half but his header hitting the post.

The centre-back lasted the full 90 minutes for Clyde, whilst Boyle came off after 60 minutes.

Both players have now featured in 10 of Clyde’s games this season since completing their Deadline Day loan moves to the Scottish side.

Clyde currently sit sixth in the Scottish League 2 table having acquired 42 points from 30 games.

Olly Dyson – Shaw Lane (Evo-Stik Premier)

Olly Dyson could make his debut for Shaw Lane on Tuesday 27 March 2018 as the Club faces Altrincham in the league.

The young striker joined the Club on Friday 23 March after impressing on work experience at Liversedge FC.

Shaw Lane currently sits sixth in the league table, three points outside the Play-Off places.

Isaac Marriott and Oran Thompson – Brighouse Town (Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One North)

Town’s Isaac Marriott (above) is undergoing work experience this season with Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One North side Brighouse Town.

The midfielder was named the Club’s Player of the Month for February and has now featured four times for Brighouse since joining the Club in February.

Oran Thompson is another Young Terrier at Brighouse Town. The defender has missed the last few games for Brighouse through suspension after receiving a red card on his debut.

Brighouse Town was beaten 3-1 away at Colne most recently, however, Town’s youngsters didn’t feature as they joined Mark Hudson’s Under-19s squad to face Bayern Munich.

Brighouse sit 21st in the table, second from bottom, having earned just 28 points from their 33 games so far this season.

George Danaher and Sam Gibson – Liversedge FC (Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division)

Young full-back Sam Gibson featured for Liversedge FC in the Club’s last league game against Harrogate Railway.

Liversedge lost 2-1 at home to the side they beat 3-0 earlier on in the week.

That start was Gibson’s second for the Club, having now made three appearances, whilst George Danaher has featured twice off the bench.

Liversedge sit 13th in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division table on 39 points after 28 games.

Jack Payne – Blackburn Rovers (Sky Bet League 1)

Jack Payne was recalled from an initial loan deal at Oxford United in January and subsequently loaned out to Blackburn Rovers where he has made five starts and four substitute appearances.

Payne has racked 12 assists so far this season having acquired nine from his stint at Oxford and a further three whilst at Blackburn.

Rovers occupy third place in the Sky Bet League 1 table having racked up 76 points from 37 games.

Jordy Hiwula – Fleetwood Town (Sky Bet League 1)

Hiwula was an 81st minute substitute for Fleetwood Town at the weekend as the Club ran out 2-0 winners over Northampton Town.

The forward has now tallied together a total of 34 League appearances for Fleetwood Town, whilst on his season-long loan, hitting the back of the net on 11 occasions.

Fleetwood has so far earnt 45 points from 38 games and sit 17th in the table.

Tareiq Holmes-Dennis – Portsmouth (Sky Bet League 1)

Tareiq Holmes-Dennis is continuing his recovery from the knee injury that he sustained on the opening day of the season for Portsmouth.

Portsmouth was 3-0 winners over Oxford United at the weekend.

Portsmouth sit 8th in the Sky Bet League 1 table after 38 games, having so far racked up 55 points. The side now sit just two points outside of the Play-Off places.
