A very young Town side, featuring five trialists, went 1-0 down on the 25th minute, but just 10 minutes later Darnell Mintus brought the scores level.
After the interval Terriers goalkeeper Giosue Bellagambi made more great saves to keep his side in it, but a penalty and an 85th minute strike gave Forest the win.
Town Under-17s are next in action in the PDL on Tuesday morning, at home to Sheffield Wednesday; full details on the match will be released shortly.
