Learn about Town's first opponent in Austria

- FC Bologna to face the Terriers in Austria
- Italian side play in Italy’s top-flight
- Managed by Filippo Inzaghi

Town kick off their trip to Austria in Brixen im Thale when they face Italian Serie A side FCBologna on Tuesday 31 July.

The Italian side is managed by ex-Italian World Cup winner Filippo Inzaghi, who took charge after the recent departure of Roberto Donadoni.

Based in North-East Italy, Bologna ended the last campaign three places above the relegation zone. They are spearheaded by Italian international Simone Verdi, who scored 10 goals for his side last season.

Other well-known players include former Italian international Mattia Destro, Swiss international Blerim Džemaili and former Inter Milan player Rodrigo Palacio.

The seven-time Italian champions were relegated to Serie B following the 2013/14 season, bouncing back straight through the play-offs in the following 2014/15 campaign.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that the two sides have met. Back in 1971, the Terriers and FC Bologna played in the Anglo-Italian Cup. As members of Group 1, alongside Sampdoria and Swindon Town, the two sides met twice, with the Italian side completing a double; a 3-2 win at Leeds Road before a 1-0 home victory.
