Scanz joins Sky Bet League One side

- Sean Scannell departs Huddersfield Town
- Winger joins Bradford City permanently
- David Wagner thanks 'Scanz' for his contribution

Sean Scannell’s six-year stay at Huddersfield Town has come to an end today, with the winger completing a permanent transfer to Sky Bet League 1 side Bradford City.

The 27-year-old Londoner first joined the Terriers from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2012, becoming the first player to arrive following Town’s promotion to the Championship. That made him the longest-serving member of the current First Team squad ahead of his departure to Town’s West Yorkshire neighbours.

In total, he made 172 appearances for the Club in all competitions, playing a key role as Town established itself in the second tier of English football.

He netted nine goals in total, including the first of David Wagner’s tenure as Head Coach in an eventual 3-1 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday on 21 November 2015.

Opportunities for regular football became scarce for ‘Scanz’ towards the end of his time at Town, which included a half-season loan at Sky Bet Championship side Burton Albion last year.

He now makes the short move to Bradford, where he will work under new Head Coach and former Town player Michael Collins.

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner commented:

“I’m pleased that we have sorted this transfer for ‘Scanny’, as we cannot offer him the regular football that he wants at this stage of his career. He has been an important player for this Club before I arrived and played an important role for us in our promotion season.

“I cannot speak highly enough of him as a person, too; he has been top class since the first day I arrived in Huddersfield.

“I know he is a popular figure with our squad and the fans and I know we all wish him the best of luck at Bradford, where I am sure he will succeed.

“He will always be welcome back as a guest at this Club, where he has friends for life.”

Everyone at Huddersfield Town would like to thank Sean for his six years at the Club and wishes him the best of luck at Bradford City.

Viva Sean Scannell!
