“When you come up against teams like this, you have to show you can compete and score goals; we did that today” said attacking midfielder Alex Pritchard after Town’s win over Olympique Lyonnais at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Town’s attacking midfielder Alex Pritchard spoke to #HTTV after the Club’s only pre-season friendly at the John Smith’s Stadium and explained how important it was for the lads, especially the new signings, to play at the Terriers’ home ground.
‘Pritch’ went on to explain how the players get the most out of pre-season matches and how the increase in the side’s reputation helps the players both mentally and physically.
The 25-year-old discussed how the Terriers have been working hard on set pieces, whilst also going into detail about how his link-up play is getting better and better with both Laurent Depoitre and Steve Mounié.
Alex Pritchard described what pre-season is like under Town’s Head Coach David Wagner and admitted that he’s looking forward to the final stage of pre-season in Austria.
Following the win, ‘Pritch’ commented:
“Lyon were a very good, a Champions League team, and we worked well when we won the ball back and defensively we had to be more compact because of the chances they had in the first half; we adapted well to that.
“I think we needed the result after the previous games in pre-season. It’s more to do with the running and getting the fitness but when you come up against teams like this, you have to show you can compete and score goals; we did that today.”
