“Everybody looks sharp so far and has come back in very good shape” said Philip Billing as he reviewed Huddersfield Town’s 4-0 win over Bury at Gigg Lane.

The match was the Town’s first pre-season friendly ahead of the 2018/19 Premier League campaign and Phil explained to #HTTV why he believes it’s important for the players to gain match fitness early as well as getting the feel of the ball back.

Phil went on to discuss playing alongside new signing Juninho Bacuna and discussed creating a winning feeling ahead of the new season.

The young Dane described how hard he worked over the summer to come back strongly for pre-season, whilst praising Town’s fitness coaches for providing him with a detailed schedule to follow over the summer as well as detailing what Head Coach David Wagner wanted the players to get out of the game and why the Terriers tried to keep the game at a high tempo.

Following the match, Phil commented:

“After a good break, which we had this summer, it’s important to get a quick game in like today; we’ve only been back a week.

“To have the first game today helps a lot to get the touch back, get comfortable on the ball again and to play against another team.

“Games like these help you get the match fitness in because you can’t really compare training to games to be honest because of the intensity and everything.

“It’s important for the whole team and for every player to get the games in; to get the first 45 minutes in today was very good.

“Everybody looks sharp so far and have come back in very good shape; we looked very strong today.”
