Town’s Head Coach discusses today’s pre-season friendly

- Head Coach David Wagner reviews Accrington friendly
- DW: result disappointing, but we already knew we have work to do
- Wagner confirms Schindler & Scannell OK despite knocks

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner says his side will move quickly on from today’s pre-season defeat at Accrington Stanley as the hard work of pre-season continues.

“Of course it was disappointing,” David said of the eventual 3-0 defeat to Accrington. “However, the main thing is that everybody looks healthy.”

“Sean Scannell and Christopher Schindler (both came off with knocks) have dead legs; that is all. It’s nothing serious. Everybody else got minutes in their legs and that’s important.

“We didn’t deal with the game well enough. The goals we gave away were cheap and that shouldn’t happen. We have tired legs but even then, you have to make sure you get the details right. We were not tough and aggressive enough, especially in our final line.

“I think we had decent moments with the ball in terms of movement and combination, but not in the really dangerous areas with our final touch.

“We can do a lot of things better, but this happens in pre-season and now we go forward. We’re only two weeks into pre-season and, as we knew before, we still have a lot of work to do!

“I am long enough in the business not to overjudge on pre-season matches in a positive or negative way.”
