Goalkeeper speaks after Accrington pre-season game

- ‘Keeper happy to get minutes in at The Wham Stadium
- Listen to his interview on #HTTV

Joel Coleman told #HTTV how happy he was to get minutes into his legs during Town’s second pre-season game at Accrington Stanley.

Joel shared his happiness at playing in the pre-season game as he spoke about his aim to compete for the number one shirt next season.

With Ben Hamer joining The Terriers in the summer, Joel spoke about what he’s learnt from all then other goalkeepers he’s worked with at Town.

The ‘keeper also touched upon his long-term goals and shared his enjoyment at working closely in competition with the other goalkeepers to help him progress further.

Speaking to #HTTV, Joel Coleman commented:

“it’s been good for me because I didn’t play much last year, so pre-season is good for me to get some minutes under my belt. The lads are disappointed today but just getting minutes in there legs as well – sometimes the results aren’t the be all or end all in pre-season. We worked hard but today didn’t just go to plan.

“For a keeper you always stay ready in training, it’s totally different to playing and last year I didn’t play that much so hopefully I’ll get a few more games this season.

“There’s a lot of competition and the number one is up for grabs, Lossl did very well last season so it’s going to be hard to push him off the number one spot.

“It’s good competition, that’s what you need every day. There’s no point having your secure spot – you always want to be tested, that’s what me and Ben are here to do and we’re looking forward to Jonas coming back.”
