Huddersfield Town defender Mathias Zanka believed that his side failed to settle into the game or impose their own game plan on Stoke City.

The Danish defender spoke to #HTTV after his side was defeated by two-goals at the Bet365 Stadium by Stoke City.

Mathias Zanka explained that despite the performance, you couldn’t question the desire or effort put in by the Town players on the pitch.

He gave an honest opinion why things didn’t go to plan against Stoke City and explained that the focus quickly switches to the upcoming games.

When speaking to #HTTV, Mathias Zanka said:

“It was a fight and we didn’t really win enough second balls to dominate this game.

“They came out blazing and had the crowd behind them; they had a lot of energy. We never settled into the game or played the game how we wanted to do.

“In the second half we had to accept this was going to be a game of second balls, we had to try and win some of them. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t. I guess today we weren’t good enough in that phase.

“We can always stand here and point out reasons why it went wrong, but at the end of the day we lost 2-0 in a game that we didn’t deserve to win, or even deserve a draw.”
