Under-23s coach reacts to Leeds game

- Head Coach Mark Hudson pleased with his side’s overall performance in 1-0 defeat
- ‘Learning experience’ for the Young Terriers after falling to Jay-Roy Grot’s second half goal
- Highlights on #HTTV next week

Huddersfield Town Under-23 Coach Mark Hudson spoke to #HTTV after his side’s Professional Development League North game against Leeds United, held at Elland Road.

The Under-23 Coach was happy with his side’s performance in a game where they suffered a narrow defeat on the night.

Jay-Roy Grot, who has played at First Team level for Leeds United, grabbed the only goal of the game, with Hudson’s side putting in a good shift creating some good chances playing in the ‘Terrier Style’.

Hudson spoke of the positives his side can take from the game as they look to grow as a team and develop as players.

When speaking to #HTTV Mark Hudson commented:

“I think we played well for the majority of the game. There’s things that we can work on. At some points, we weren’t quite as good on the ball as I would have liked.”

“When we eventually broke them down, the quality wasn’t quite there, but we had a few chances and limited them to only a few. They’re a good side who set-up well and play good football.”

“In the first half we played some good football, but the quality wasn’t quite there, but there was lots of positives.”

“The boys are disappointed but it’s a learning experience.”

“That’s what we’re trying to do. The lads didn’t panic when they went a goal down, kept trying to play and build up through the lines, and get down the lines with the space. We did that well, stayed in the game. We just couldn’t quite break them down, but the idea is there to set the 18s and 23s up so that if one of them gets called up to the first team, they know their roles.”
