Wagner speaks ahead of Liverpool

David Wagner says his side must be focused if they are to get a positive result from tomorrow’s Premier League game against Liverpool.

Huddersfield Town’s Head Coach was speaking to the press ahead of his side’s upcoming Premier League game against Liverpool on Tuesday evening.

David Wagner gave an update on the availability of his squad sharing that Danny Williams is a doubt for the game and Dutch defender Terence Kongolo should be okay for the Liverpool clash.

David’s friendship with Jürgen Klopp was also discussed, with the Head Coach stating that he is happy for tomorrow’s opponents to have all the points in the Premier League, but not tomorrow night.

The Head Coach also praised the character and commitment of his squad because of all the achievements they’ve enjoyed over the last two-and-a-half years together.

During his Press Conference, David Wagner said:

“Terence looks okay, he will train today. Danny [Williams] is a doubt with a dead leg, but we will see how the treatment today and tomorrow will work for him. Other than the two knocks we got last weekend, everyone is fit and healthy.

“First and foremost, we must be focused on ourselves. We had a similar period in November and we turned it around because we were focused on ourselves and this is what we have to do now. This is a great opportunity in front of our home crowd and this is exactly what we would like to do.

“It is different and special as well. We [Jürgen Klopp] have a friendship and a relationship which is extraordinary, but at tomorrow at 8pm it doesn’t matter. It’s all about Huddersfield and Liverpool and we are bot in situations where need the points. Liverpool can have all the points in the Premier League but not tomorrow night, we will try for everything and fight for every yard.

“I like to make one thing totally clear, I will never question the character of this group. This makes no sense, I cannot criticise the character of my players for two-and-a-half-years. Now when we have a less successful period I can’t question the character, this makes no sense, these are great characters.”
