Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner may well have been the proudest man in the West Midlands as he witnessed his Terriers pick up three vital points after defeating West Bromwich Albion 2-1 at the Hawthorns.

The Head Coach thought his men displayed a plethora of characteristics required to come away with the maximum point haul in a game of this magnitude.

Although Wagner was overjoyed with his side's performance, he explained that the first-half showing didn't meet the correct standards instigated through a nervousness in possession coupled with a need to sharpen the fight and desire.

Otherwise, Wagner explained how he felt all of the hard work in training by both the players and staff has evidently paid off with the victory being a much-deserved end result.

Rajiv van La Parra received personal praise from his Head Coach, with Wagner saying that the Dutch winger deserved his goal on the afternoon, and has become an overall increasing threat on the attack for the Terriers.

Stressing that all of his team played key roles in the victory, Wagner was also full of praise for his defensive and midfield units, who he felt were 'outstanding' to help keep Albion at bay.

When speaking to #HTTV, David Wagner commented:

“I am delighted, the dressing room is over the moon; they absolutely deserved every single smile on their faces and the supporters faces as well.

“We spoke a lot about the importance of this game, to keep the momentum to show everything we have to show in a like Hughesy (Andrew Hughes) says a ‘belter’ and it was one.

“In this ‘belter’ you have to fight, they have done it, you have to suffer, they have done it, you have to accept pain, they accepted and then in some situations they played some decent football as well, even if we have to say it was for sure not one of the nicest football matches we have seen.

“But in these situations it only count to win, fight and do everything to get a result over the line so I am absolutely delighted.”
