Egyptian returning to home country

- Ramadan Sobhi set to depart Huddersfield Town on loan
- Egyptian international will join Al Ahly SC
- Comments from Head Coach David Wagner

Huddersfield Town winger Ramadan Sobhi is set to join Egyptian Premier League club Al Ahly on loan when the transfer window opens on 1 January 2019, pending international and Premier League clearance.

The 21-year-old joined Town from Stoke City in June 2018 but has only made four competitive appearances for the First Team as a substitute during the opening half of the Premier League season.

Now he will return to his home country to re-join the reigning Egyptian champions on loan; the Cairo-based Club where he started his professional career.

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner commented:

“Ramadan has been a little unlucky with circumstances this season. After a decent pre-season, he suffered an injury just before the start of the Premier League and it took some time to clear.

“When he eventually regained full fitness, other players were ahead of him in the team and he hasn’t been able to force his way into the line-up.

“He is keen for this loan move to happen and I think it is the best for everyone at this stage.”

Ramadan’s contract at Huddersfield Town runs until the summer of 2021, with the Club having an option on a further season.
