“It feels like we’re waiting for Christmas in there” said Huddersfield Town midfielder Jonathan Hogg as he described the atmosphere in the dressing room ahead of the Club’s opening game of the Premier League season.
Over the last couple of weeks preparations on the pitch stepped up ahead of this game and Town’s Vice Captain explained how that affected the atmosphere in the dressing room.
“It’s like everyone is waiting for Christmas in there, you know when you’re a kid and it’s three of four days around the corner and you’re getting excited; it’s one of them feelings.
“Pre-season has been long, and we are just glad to get back into a normal week and get on running.
“Saturday is going to special for everyone, second season in the Premier League and it’s what we all want to do, play football in the Premier League.”
When discussing the match, Jonathan Hogg explained that there’s never an easy time to play Chelsea.
“I don’t think it’s ever easy to play Chelsea, whether it’s the first game or the last; they’ve got world class players.
“Maybe, it’s a good time considering the World Cup has just past and three, four, maybe five of their best players might not be ready yet. But they’ve got World Class players sat on the bench, like Barkley and the new signings.”
‘Hoggy’ also urged the supporters to stick with Town throughout the season and to be louder than ever before this weekend.
“The supporters were our 12th man last year – a different class!
“What they bring to us and how they lift the lads, especially when we’re on the front foot is incredible.
“When you can hear them behind you, it gives you that extra lift and that bit more motivation to do well.”
