“I thought the fans were fantastic” said Ben Hamer as he drew the positives from Huddersfield Town’s defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League.

Town’s ‘keeper spoke to #HTTV after the game against the Blues on the opening day of the season and went in to detail about how impressed he was with the Terriers supporters.

It was Ben’s first experience of a sold-out John Smith’s Stadium and he commented:

“One thing I will say is, I thought the fans were fantastic! Even when we went 3-0 down they were still loud and getting behind us; that’s something you don’t see very often so that’s brilliant from them.

“I hope they keep doing that in the home games because it was vitally important for us.”

Town’s new signing went on to discuss the match, whilst explaining how there’s a number of positives to take from the defeat on the opening day.

“I thought until the first goal that we handled them quite well to be honest. I thought we were organised and looked quite solid but then they broke down the left, got a cross into the box and he’s hit one into the ground. Unfortunately, it’s taken a deflection, which never helps – that was a tough one to take at the time.

“After that we had a great chance, which hit the post, and if that goes in no-one knows what’ll happen.

“It’s unfortunate that they were clinical and us not so much; that punishes you if you play in the Premier League. If chances come you have to take them and they did that today, unfortunately we’ve picked up a defeat.

“We’ve got a big game again on Sunday, so hopefully they come thick and fast and we can get out there again and put things right.”

Not only this, the ‘keeper believes Town need to be more clinical in front of goal, praised the fighting attitude of the team and explained that the team needs to move on quickly to focus on the game against Manchester City next Sunday.
