Durm discusses his return to fitness in the defeat at Stoke

Erik Durm cut a disappointed figure after Town’s Carabao Cup exit at Stoke City – but admitted it was a special feeling to be back out on the pitch.
The 26-year-old made his competitive debut for the Terriers and impressed at left back despite the final score, although he admitted the team was down after the loss.
“I think it was a very tough game against a strong, physical team,” Erik told HTTV.
“We tried to play as hard as them and I thought the first-half was OK, but we made some easy mistakes when we tried to go forward and this was not so good.
“After the game, we’re very disappointed to lose. Of course, we wanted to come into the next round and we are very disappointed about the result.”
Despite the result, Erik explained that the night will live in his memory as the end of a long string of separate, unfortunate injuries.
He continued: “For me, it was a special moment. I don’t know for sure, but I’d guess I’ve been out for 16 months since my last official game and it’s been a hard time for me. I’m happy to be back on the pitch and back in the team. I’m happy that I’ve come through healthy.
“I’m also happy for Danny Williams, of course.
“As I said before, now I’m disappointed about the result. It’s difficult after such a game to discuss how I played.”
Now Durm is keen for the squad to move on and look ahead to Saturday’s game at Everton.
“Now we have to look forward to Everton and work on picking up points in the Premier League. Today it’s OK to be disappointed and upset, but tomorrow we must focus on Everton.”
