Young defenders join Town from Man Utd

- Town sign two former Man Utd youngsters
- 18 year-olds Jake Barrett and Harry Spratt both arrive at Town
- The youngsters have both put pen to paper on deals that run up until Summer 2019

Huddersfield Town has signed 18 year-olds Jake Barrett and Harry Spratt with both going straight into the Club’s Academy sides.

The pair both join from Manchester United having signed professional contracts with Town that will run up until the summer of 2019, with the Club having an option to extend for a further year.

Born in Leeds, Harry Spratt joined the Red Devils as an eight year-old from local side Rothwell Juniors where he played for United’s Academy up until Under-18s level.

Spratt – who made his debut for Manchester United’s Under-18 side as a 15 year-old in October 2015 - is a left sided defender who can operate in both the full-back and centre-back positions.

The youngster signs following a successful trial where he featured for Mark Hudson’s Under-23 side in the games against Leeds United and Crewe Alexandra.

Jake Barrett also joins having spent the last decade years at Manchester United’s Academy where he first joined as an eight year-old.

Barrett is from the Huddersfield area, having played for Westend Juniors and is a right sided defender who is comfortable in both the centre-back and full-back positions.

The youngster made his bow for the Young Terriers in last weekend’s U19 Champions Trophy held in Düsseldorf where he started four of the six games for Mark Hudson’s Under-19 side.
