Young Terriers lose in Wales

- Town’s Under-18s defeated by Cardiff City on Saturday morning
- Four trialists included in Leigh Bromby’s side
- Darnell Mintus makes his first start for the U18s

Huddersfield Town’s Under-18 side were defeated by five goals in Saturday’s Professional Development League game against Cardiff City.

Leigh Bromby named a relatively young side for the trip to Cardiff that included four trialists in Giosue Bellagambi, Moses Omrore, Sezgin Aleksiev and Osaretin Otote. Darnell Mintus was also handed his first start at this age level.

The game began with ‘keeper Bellagambi called into action with a couple of saves in the opening stages. Sion Spence had his strike in the fifth minute parried away before a second attempt just before the ten-minute mark that was again denied by Bellagambi.

Sion Spence was causing Town problems in the opening stages and he was to open the scoring around the half hour mark. The midfielder converted with a powerful left-footed strike to give the host the advantage.

Cardiff doubled their lead eight minutes later as a through-ball from Sion Spence found Laurence Wootton who duly slotted the ball home. Town made two changes at the break introducing Tom Bell and Remi Thompson for Harry Spratt and Osaretin Otote.

The second half began with Cardiff City going on to grab their fourth and fifth of the afternoon within the space of ten minutes. Harry Pinchard got the third before Sion Spence netted his second of the game for the fourth.

Cardiff wrapped up scoring in the 75th as Dan Griffiths grabbed the fifth as the referee blew the full-time whistle.

Town’s Starting Line-Up (4-2-3-1):
Giosue Bellagambi; Harry Spratt (Tom Bell, 45’), Moses Omrore, Tom Bamford, Dahomey Raymond (c); Josh Austerfield, Seth Meeson (Kian Harratt, 65’); Osaretin Otote (Remi Thompson, 45’), Ben Mills, Sezgin Aleksiev; Darnell Mintus
