“It’s an honour to me, I don’t know how to describe this in words. I feel very happy and I’m very, very proud” said right-back Florent Hadergjonaj after scooping two prizes at Huddersfield Town’s Annual Awards ceremony, which was sponsored by Yorkshire Payments.
The 23 year-old walked away with the Players’ Young Player of the Year award, which was sponsored by Louise Woollard Financial and the President’s Prize, which is sponsored by Dale Carnegie.
Flo’s first prize of the evening was the President’s Prize, which was selected by Town’s Club President David Taylor. The award recognised entertainers on the pitch.
The Swiss international was then announced as the winner of the the Players’ Young Player of the Season award, which was voted for by his teammates, closely pipping Steve Mounié to the prize.
The right-back joined Huddersfield Town on loan from FC Ingolstadt 04 at the start of the season, before agreeing to join the Club permanently in March 2018.
Since signing for Town, Flo has made 24 appearances for the Terriers – starting 14 of the Club’s last 15 games in all competitions. He also has two assists to his name.
After winning the awards, Flo told #HTTV:
“To be fair I was really surprised (to win two awards); I didn’t expect it!
“The first prize was the President’s Prize, I really didn’t expect that one, so yeah, I’m very, very proud to win these two prizes.
“I want to thank everyone who voted for me, especially my teammates for the second award, the Young Player of the Season.
“It’s an honour to me, I don’t know how to describe this in words. I feel very happy and I’m very, very proud.”
