The Huddersfield Town team that made club owner Dean Hoyle fall in love with the Terriers called 101 Club will be released next month.

The 101 Club is the inside story of one of Town’s most exciting ever seasons that saw the Leeds Road outfit win the old Fourth Division title in style after emerging from the darkest period the Club has ever seen.

Legendary Town Manager Mick Buxton transformed a side flirting with non-league football into an unstoppable attacking force and his team dramatically clinched silverware on an unforgettable nerve-jangling last day of the 1979/80 season.

Town fans can now re-live that season and get an insight into life as a footballer, with the book including an in-depth interviews with Buxton and quotes from every single member of the 16-man squad who won the title in exhilarating fashion.

They were the working-class heroes, which would become Town legends in the days before Sky Sports and scored a club-record 101 league goals that campaign and indirectly paved the way for Premier League to come to Huddersfield this season.

Hoyle has paid homage to Buxton’s heroes such as Steve Kindon and Ian Robins in a moving foreword to the book by an author, Rob Stewart, who was brought up on Huddersfield’s notorious Walpole Road estate before becoming a national newspaper football reporter with The Daily Telegraph.

The 101 Club, which is published by Great Northern Books, also includes:

- A chronicle of Town’s journey to glory
- Never-seen-before photos
- Interviews with the club’s behind-the-scenes heroes
- A special article on the Huddersfield’s evolution by MP Barry Sheerman
- Views from the terraces
- The astonishing inside story on the move to the John Smith’s stadium
- Interviews with Town’s so-called ‘Wags’

You can purchase the book for just £17.99 online by clicking here!

If you order the book before 20 October 2017 then you have the choice to have your name printed in the list of Terriers fans at the back of the book. You will also receive a hardback limited edition copy of the book if you pre-order.

The 101 Club book will also be available to purchase in the four club shops after the book has been released.

The author of the book Rob Stewart commented:

“I think it’s fair to say that if it hadn’t been for Mick Buxton’s team then the wildest dreams of Town fans like me would not have come true,” the author, Rob Stewart, commented.

“They set the ball rolling because that Town side captured Dean Hoyle’s heart thanks to the likes of Steve Kindon and Ian Robins who are still viewed with enormous affection by everyone who saw them pull the club out of the doldrums.”
