Huddersfield Town’s Operations Director Ann Hough was named Woman of the Year at the recent Yorkshire Awards ceremony.

The annual event pays tribute to those who have made major contributions to the business, sport and cultural life of the county in the last 12 months.

Previous winners of the ‘Woman of the Year’ award include Maureen Lipman, Jilly Cooper OBE, Kimberley Walsh, Jane Tomlinson and Lesley Garratt.

Ann joined the Club in 1993 as Personal Assistant to the Club Secretary and later became Club Secretary herself, helping the Club through administration in 2003.

She is the current longest-serving member on the Board of Directors having been appointed in 2007 and her role as Operations Director makes her responsible for the Club's football administration and matchday operation, as well as the wider organisational aspects at Town.

Upon receiving the award, Ann spoke to the event organisers commenting:

“I’m very humbled. It’s a proud moment and I’m really quite shocked. I never expected this and I never thought, when I joined the club in 1993, what this job would go on to give me.

“It’s hard work. I’ve not had time to enjoy our first season in the Premier League because it’s non-stop. I never get to see home matches but it’s a way of life and I love what it gives me back. We have an amazing team off the field as well as on it.

“Promotion to the Premier League has been fantastic for the town and the supporters and also for all the businesses that have got on board. It has put Huddersfield on the map”
