Terriers defeated by Bolton

- Town U23s defeated at home to Bolton
- Frankie Bunn’s side reduced to 10-men
- Highlights on HTTV this week

Frankie Bunn’s Under-23 side were back in action on Monday afternoon as they welcomed Bolton Wanderers to PPG Canalside but were defeated by two second-half goals, having played a lot of the game with only 10 men.

Olly Dyson very nearly opened the scoring early on as Collin Quaner skipped past his marker on the right and cut the ball back. The ball landed at Dyson’s feet but he couldn’t make clean contact with the ball skewing the shot wide of the mark.

Full-back Jordan Thomas was next to go close as Jack Boyle picked him out perfectly on an overlapping run with a terrific through ball, but his fierce shot across goal was well saved by Turner in the Bolton goal.

The Terriers were then reduced to ten-men as Ryan Schofield came storming out and was adjudged to have handled the ball outside the area, in turn being shown a straight red-card. The replacement goalkeeper, Tadhg Ryan was thrust straight into the thick of the action making a terrific diving save from the subsequent free-kick to keep the scores level.

Half time came and went with the scores level and six minutes into the second half the opening goal came in the way of Bolton. Matthew Fearnley skipped past his man on the right squaring it back to his strike partner Dennis Politic who fired his side into the lead.

The final five minutes of the game were action packed with Town chasing the equaliser. The Terriers were firstly awarded a penalty as Regan Booty was pulled down in the box following a cross from the right. Booty got up but saw his subsequent penalty saved by the Bolton ‘keeper down low to his left.

Spurred on from the penalty save, the Bolton side went straight up the other end of the pitch and doubled their lead through left-winger Cole Lonsdale who fired his shot under Tadhg Ryan securing the three points for the visitor.
