Huddersfield Town Under-18s were defeated at home to Barnsley on Saturday morning by three goals to two.
Barnsley took the lead 22 minutes into the game and then went on to double their lead only 9 minutes later leaving Town at a two-goal deficit with just over half an hour on the clock.
Town went into the break behind and introduced both Isaac Marriott and Olly Dyson in place of Dahomey Raymond and Jordan Eli ahead of the second-half. The changes saw Dom Tear move to right-back with Ben Jackson moving into the centre of the back four to partner Cameron Taylor as part of the tactical reshuffle.
The Young Terriers pulled one back in the 58th minute as a cross from left-back Mason O’Malley was turned in by a Barnsley defender to half the deficit with around half-an-hour of the game remaining.
Two minutes later the Tykes grabbed their third of the afternoon and restored their two-goal advantage. Full-back Jordan Thomas was then introduced in the 65th minute in place of Matty Daly as Town looked to salvage something from the game.
Dom Tear grabbed a late consolation for Town as he headed home an Olly Dyson cross but it wasn’t to be enough as they were condemned to defeat.
Next up for Leigh Bromby’s side is an away game at Sheffield Wednesday next Saturday with kick-off scheduled for 11am.
