Huddersfield Town Under-18s welcomed Bolton Wanderers to PPG Canalside for the next instalment of their Under-18 Professional Development League campaign but were defeated 5-4.

Leigh Bromby’s side went into the game in top spot of the U18 Professional Development League North following their 4-0 victory at Burnley last weekend and Bromby made two changes to that side as Cameron Taylor and Mason O’Malley dropped out in place of Jordan Eli and Jordan Thomas.

The game took six minutes to spring into life with the visitors scoring the opening goal; Edward Moudlen headed home from a corner to give Bolton the lead six minutes in.

Dom Tear got the Terriers back into the game four minutes later curling the ball home from the edge of the area with his left foot to draw the sides level.

A quickfire double fired Bolton into a 3-1 lead with Luca Navarro firstly converting from the spot before Matthew Barnes added a third.

Town mustered an emphatic comeback with Captain George Danaher starting the rout by poking home from close range having initially nicked the ball off the ‘keeper. Micah Obiero followed up to draw Town back on equal terms after producing a smart turn and finish past the visiting stopper.

The frantic affair saw Bromby’s men remarkably take the lead through Matty Daly. The attacking-midfielder turned home a goalmouth scramble in the 70th minute leaving Town with 20 minutes to hang onto their 4-3 lead to secure all three points.

But it was to be the away side who were to leave PPG Canalside with all three points as they grabbed their fourth and fifth goals of the afternoon in the 75th and 81st minute through Sunny Graham and Luca Connell.

Next up for Leigh Bromby’s side is a home tie against Leeds United at PPG Canalside next Saturday.

Town’s Starting Line-Up (4-2-3-1):
Luke Mewitt; Jordan Eli (Tom Bamford, 65’), Saul Milovanvoic, Jordan Thomas (Mason O’Malley, 45’); Ben Jackson, Scott High, Matty Daly, Dahomey Raymond (Olly Dyson, 45’), Dom Tear; Geroge Danaher, Micah Obiero
