Wagner wins as Brown finishes runner-up

- David Wagner named Manager of the Month
- Town's Head Coach nets second monthly accolade
- Izzy Brown runner-up in Player of the Month

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner is the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for February 2017!

This is the second monthly accolade that David has received from the league since joining the Club as Head Coach back in November 2015, following on from winning the August 2016 accolade.

The February award is well deserved as the Club took 16 points from a possible 18 in a busy league and cup schedule.

Town started the month with arguably the performance of the season to date, beating automatic promotion hopefuls Brighton & Hove Albion 3-1 at the John Smith’s Stadium in front of the live Sky Sports cameras.

That was followed up with a 2-1 home win over West Yorkshire rivals Leeds United, secured by defender Michael Hefele’s dramatic late goal.

Just as impressively, the Terriers then recorded back-to-back wins on the road in the next two games, with a 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road followed by a 3-2 win over Rotherham United, with Tommy Smith capping a superb comeback in added time.

Another promotion contender, Reading, was beaten 1-0 at the John Smith’s Stadium before Barnsley became the only side to take points from Town in the calendar month through a 1-1 draw at Oakwell.

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner commented:

“As was the case in August, I only accept the February ‘Manager of the Month’ award on behalf of every player, member of staff and everyone else connected with this special club, Huddersfield Town.

“We enjoyed such good results because of the excellent, consistent level of performance from every player in the squad. That happens because of self-belief, trust in each other and hard work every day at the training ground.

“I’m very proud of everyone in this group; it is a pleasure to work with this squad and staff.”

Town's Izzy Brown was on the shortlist of four for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for February, but that award was given to Preston North End's Aiden McGeady.

Watch Wagner’s side back in home action against Burton Albion on Saturday 1 April; tickets start from £15 adults and £3 Under-18s!
