Academy ‘keeper Ryan Schofield helped England’s Under-20s side progress into the Final of the Toulon Tournament.

The 18 year-old earned his third cap for the young Lions as they beat Scotland 3-0 to progress into the Final of the competition.

The dominant and impressive performance has set up a final for the youngsters against either Ivory Coast or Czech Republic, which will take place on Saturday 10 June 2017 in a 4.30pm kick-off.

Ryan has the chance to help England retain the trophy for the third time in the country’s history after starting and completing 90 minutes in three out of the Under-20s four matches during the competition.

After making his U20 debut under Head Coach Neil Dewsnip, Ryan has continued to impress keeping two clean sheets in three matches; the first came on his debut in a 1-0 win over Angola.

Town’s young stopper has had a very successful 2016/17 campaign, signing a new contract towards the end of the season as well as impressing regularly for Leigh Bromby’s Under-18s side.

Whilst out on loan with FC United of Manchester he helped the Club win the Frank Hannah Manchester Premier Cup trophy after keeping a clean sheet against Stalybridge Celtic in the final.

Prior to making his England Under-20 debut during this competition, Ryan made his first appearance for his country’s Under-18s side in March 2017, keeping a clean sheet in a 4-0 win over Qatar.
