Both the Under-23’s and Under-18’s travelled north to the Academy of Light to face Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.
Following Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Stalybridge, Frankie Bunn’s side played out their third game of pre-season; but were defeated by a single goal against a tough Sunderland side.

Leigh Bromby’s side were defeated 3-1 in their second pre-season game of the season at the Academy of Light. Despite going a goal down 3 minutes into the game, Town got an equaliser in the 24th minute through second-year scholar George Danaher. Sunderland then got two quick fire goals in minutes 34th and 37th minute, which turned out to be enough to give them the 3-1 victory.
