Duo commit futures to ‘The Yorkshire Club’
- Chris Löwe signs a new deal until 30 June 2020
- Elias Kachunga agrees new contract with HTAFC
- Comments from Head Coach David Wagner
Two of Huddersfield Town’s Premier League promotion winners – Chris Löwe and Elias Kachunga – have committed their futures to the Club by signing new contracts.
Left back Löwe, who joined the Terriers from 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the summer of 2016, was a virtual ever-present in David Wagner’s side as the Club gained promotion from the Sky Bet Championship.
He had two seasons left on his existing contract, but his new deal now runs until 30 June 2020, with the Club having an option on a further year’s extension at that point.
Kachunga – Town’s top scorer in the promotion season – made his initial loan move to the Club from FC Ingolstadt 04 a permanent one in March 2017 as part of a standout year that saw him named the Young Terriers’ Player of the Year accolade at Town’s Annual Awards ceremony.
He has also signed a new contract running until 30 June 2020, with the Club again having the option of a further year’s extension.
Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner commented:
“It’s very important that Chris and Elias have committed their futures to Huddersfield Town by signing new contracts.
“Both Chris and ‘Kache’ were big players for the team as we gained promotion to the Premier League last season. I knew they were both high quality footballers when they arrived, but they deserve so much credit for the way they adapted to English football so quickly. That is testament to their characters and personalities as much as their footballing ability.
“They will continue to be big, big players for us in the Premier League season and these new contracts are also a reward for what they have achieved with us so far.
“I expect that more of the players who have made this journey into the Premier League will also commit their futures to the Club in the coming weeks.”
