LOAN: JACK PAYNE JOINS OXFORD UNITED

28 July 2017

Attacking midfielder joins Sky Bet League 1 club on loan

- Jack Payne leaves Huddersfield Town on loan
- 22 year-old joins Oxford United
- Loan move runs until 5 May 2018

Huddersfield Town attacking midfielder Jack Payne has joined Sky Bet League 1 side Oxford United on a Standard Loan.

The 22 year-old’s loan runs until the end of the regular 2017/18 campaign, with Oxford having the option to extend the deal if the Club gets into the Sky Bet League 1 Play-Offs.

The Terriers have the ability to recall the creative midfielder during the 2018 January Transfer Window.

Jack joined Huddersfield Town as a free agent from Sky Bet League 1 side Southend on 1 July 2016.

Payne started 10 games for Huddersfield Town last season and also appeared 14 times off the bench for the Club, one of which was against Sheffield Wednesday in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off semi-final second leg.

During Town’s Sky Bet Championship promotion winning season, the youngster scored two goals; the first inspired the Terriers to their first win at St. James’ Park since the 1953/54 season.

He will now join Oxford United under the guidance of Pep Clotet, who was appointed by the Club this summer.

Last season the U’s finished eighth in the Sky Bet League 1 table, four points outside the Play-Off places.
