Huddersfield Town defender Fraser Horsfall has joined Gateshead on a half-season loan deal after signing a new contract with the Terriers.

Horsfall was one of Town’s Academy players to be named in the 2016/17 retained list and signed a new one-year deal with the Club upon his return to pre-season training.

The youngster has since agreed to join the National League side on a loan deal that will run until 31 January 2018.

Managed by former Leeds United centre back Neil Aspin, the Heed finished eighth in the National League table twelve points outside the Play-Off places.

The 20 year-old first joined Huddersfield Town in September 2004 as an Under-11.

Horsfall continued to progress through the Terriers’ Academy and made 11 appearances for Frankie Bunn’s Development Squad during the 2016/17 season; starting nine matches.

Alongside playing for Town’s Under-23s, Fraser spent loan spells at Trafford FC, Stalybridge Celtic and Salford City, where he was involved in a National League North Play-Off semi-final.
