TOWN'S U18s & U23s ARE BOTH IN ACTION THIS WEEKEND

27 January 2017

Top three clash for the Under-23s at PPG Canalside

-    Under-18s travel to Barnsley on Saturday
-    Town’s Under-23s host Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday
-    Fans can attend the U23s match for just £1 at PPG Canalside

Both Huddersfield Town’s Under-18s and Under-23s are in action in their respective Professional Development League matches this weekend.

The young Terriers will make the short trip to Barnsley on Saturday (28 January) for its latest Under-18 Premier League Development fixture.

Leigh Bromby's side will be hoping to keep up its recent league form, which has seen the youngsters climb to third in the PDL table. So far this season the young Terriers has picked up 32 points from 19 games.

Professional Development Coach Bromby has been undefeated since in his opening two games since taking sole charge of the Under-18s after Tony Carss was appointed as the Head of Academy Coaching.

The Under-18s head into the game with momentum after putting together a run of four unbeaten league games in a row, including a recent 1-0 victory against Crewe Alexandra. Highlights below are courtesy of HTTV.

The young Terriers’ form has been the polar opposite to that of its opponents, who has failed to pick up a victory in their last eight games.

However, it was Barnsley who picked up three points when the two sides met earlier in the year with an impressive 4-2 victory at PPG Canalside.

Saturday’s opponent sits eighth in the ten-team division, nine points behind Bromby’s side with 23 points from 20 games.

Huddersfield Town’s Development Squad welcomes local rivals Sheffield Wednesday to the Club’s PPG Canalside, on Sunday (29 January) for a top three clash.

The match kicks-off at PPG Canalside at 2pm on Sunday and fans can attend the game for just £1, which includes a team sheet.

Frankie Bunn’s Under-23s squad will be looking to continue their impressive recent run of form, only suffering one defeat in its last six outings in all competitions.

The young Terriers are coming into the game off the back of an impressive, hard fought 1-0 victory against West Brom in the Premier League Cup. Watch highlights from the match and Sam Warde’s sensational winner below courtesy of HTTV.

Sunday’s opponent, Sheffield Wednesday, currently sits top of the Professional Development League and has won their last four matches, only conceding one goal.

When the two sides met earlier this season, Bunn’s side was beaten 1-0 by the Owls in a match at Sheffield FC’s ground.

Wednesday is eight points clear of third placed Town in the PDL with a game in hand.
