Huddersfield Town’s Under-18s beat Crewe Alexandra 1-0 at PPG Canalside in the U18 Professional Development League thanks to a goal from Dom Tear.

Leigh Bromby’s youngsters started the game brightly and created the first chance through striker Cedwyn Scott. Town’s striker drove into the box but was deny by a good save from the ‘keeper.

Both teams continued to create chances, with the Terriers dominating possession.

The youngsters made its efforts count after half an hour when Dom Tear got clear of his man to drill his shot into the bottom corner, from just inside the 18 yard box.

The second half, was a more of an even affair between the two sides. Crewe came more into the game and had a penalty shout turned down for handball a quarter of the way through the half.

The away side continued to create chances and had a good opportunity midway through the second half but the ball was headed just wide of Schofield’s near post.

Minutes after, a shot from the edge of the box was superbly tipped wide by Town’s ‘keeper to keep his side in front.

Just before the end of the match Alexandra’s Owen Dale struck a free-kick goal wards from 25 yards out but Schofield did well to tip it over the bar.

Town’s team (4-2-3-1):

Ryan Schofield; Sam Gibson, Cameron Taylor, Rarmani Edmonds-Green (c), Callum Elliott; Isaac Marriott, Alfie Raw; Dominic Tear, George Danaher, Matty Daly; Cedwyn Scott.
