- Comments from Academy Manager Steve Weaver

Huddersfield Town has today added Frank Mulhern to its Under-23 Development Squad for the remainder of the 2016/17 season.

The striker, who has turned 20 today, joins the Terriers as a free agent following his recent departure from Leeds United.

Capped by the Republic of Ireland up to Under-19 level, Frank has played the last four games for Senior Professional Development Coach Frankie Bunn’s Town Under-23 side as a trialist.

Mulhern, who hails from South Elmsall, was a player in the Huddersfield Town Academy for nearly four years previously, joining the Terriers at Under-9 level in August 2005 before departing for Leeds in May 2009.

He subsequently turned professional with the Elland Road club in the summer of 2015 following a two-year scholarship; a deal he extended a year later.

He also played for Vanarama National League side Southport during a brief loan spell in September 2016.

Huddersfield Town’s Academy Manager Steve Weaver commented:

“Frank is a player who has always been held in high regard by the coaches here, dating back to his first spell in the Academy.

“This deal gives Frankie Bunn the chance to work with Frank for the rest of the season, which we believe could work out well in the short and long term for the player and the Club.”
