Head Coach David Wagner spoke to #HTTV following his sides 3-1 home defeat to last season’s Premier League Champions, Chelsea.

Town’s Head Coach felt that not collecting the first goal of the game proved a decisive factor in the overall outcome of the game – despite his side performing to a reasonable level.

Wagner continued to praise the attitude of his side and felt that a lack of focus and concentration can be affiliated to his side conceding the first and second goals of the game.

Following the match David Wagner commented:

“Unfortunately, it wasn’t us who scored the first goal, this made it even more difficult, even if I thought the defensive shape was good.

“The players worked their socks off and we know that if you want to pick up a result against a top team like Chelsea the players have to overperform, this wasn’t the case today.

“We weren’t able to overperform in terms of concentration and focus. The first two goals were avoidable, this was only a lack of concentration and focus in these situations – and they used it.

“This result will not affect us, we’ve played against Chelsea and we’ve lost 3-1. From my point of view, I think we’ve shown an average performance, we haven’t underperformed but we haven’t overperformed.
