Huddersfield Town’s upcoming Premier League match against Chelsea has been named as the Club’s ‘Women at the Game’ match as the Terriers strive for equality and diversity in football.
The Club has been working alongside the HTSA (Huddersfield Town Supporters Association) on the initiative which aims to give women their first taste of live football in a supportive environment, as well as to foster dialogue and relationships amongst women who are already seasoned match-goers.
The Women at the Game initiative is the brainchild of former Supporters Direct employee Jacqui Forster. Jacqui was diagnosed with terminal cancer in February 2015, and decided to use the funds that friends raised on her behalf to work with trusts and clubs to encourage more women and girls to attend matches.
30 women and girls will all attend a social gathering organised by HTSA prior to the game, and will be sat in the Fantastic Media Lower Stand for the match.
The Guard of Honour ahead of the match will be made up of women and girls from the Huddersfield Town Ladies Team, whilst more details on the initiative have been highlighted in the match day programme ‘The Terrier’.

“We were delighted to be able to support the HTSA in their goal to encourage more women and girls from Huddersfield and the surrounding area to experience a game, and to highlight the contribution made by women and girls to our Club.
“We pride ourselves on being an inclusive, community club and it is initiatives like Women at the Game which aim to highlight that.”
