Town Under-23s draw at Charlton

- Frankie Bunn’s side travelled to London for their third PDL game of the season
- Town Under-23s draw 0-0 at Charlton
- Highlights on HTTV next week

Frankie Bunn’s Under-23 side played out a goalless draw against Charlton Athletic at The Valley on Friday afternoon.

The young Town side was playing its third game of the season and the second of this week having lost 2-1 to Queens Park Rangers at PPG Canalside on Monday.

The game was to be played at Charlton’s First Team Stadium, The Valley, with the game kicking off at 2pm.

Dom Tear had the first chance of the game 15 minutes in as he was played in behind the Charlton defensive line, but off balance could only roll his shot wide of the target.

After an even first half, Charlton came out on top in the second and had a number of chances to get the opener. Most notably, when Joshua Umerah found himself one-on-one for the host but could only manage to put his effort wide of the target.

Charlton was then to have another glorious chance as a poor pass back from Town was capitalised on by the host. Through on goal and following two attempts, the Londoners were unable to beat Ryan Schofield in the Town goal.

Town then made a change on the 62nd minute introducing Isaac Marriott in place of full-back, Deshane Dalling.

Charlton was then reduced to 10 men on 86 minutes as Dan Bowery was given his second yellow card of the game for pulling back Olly Dyson.

Town failed make their man advantage count, as the game ended in a goalless draw. Next up for Frankie Bunn’s side is a home tie a week on Monday against Cardiff City at PPG Canalside.

Town’s Staring Line-up:
Ryan Schofield; Sam Gibson, Rarmani Edmonds-Green, Danny Kane, Deshane Dalling (Isaac Marriott, 62’); Lewis O’Brien, Regan Booty; Luca Colville, Jack Boyle, Dom Tear; Olly Dyson
