Town under-18s kicked off their Professional Development League campaign with a 3-2 win over Bristol City at PPG Canalside on Tuesday afternoon.

Having arrived back from the two-week LFE tour of Seville on Saturday, Bromby’s side kicked off their Professional Development League campaign at home to Bristol City.

Town started on the front foot and grabbed the opening goal within the first half hour, after a goalmouth scramble saw the ball land with midfielder Matty Daly who duly rifled the ball into the roof of the net to give Town the goal advantage.

Micah Obiero doubled the lead on 36minutes after some good pressing by Town saw them win the ball back in the final third. The ball eventually found its way to Micah Obiero on the left who powered his shot past the Bristol City 'keeper at the near post.

Bromby’s side were to grab their third goal of the game after some good work on the right saw the ball crossed in from the right. Landing at the feet of George Danaher, the young forward made no mistake placing the ball home giving Town the three-goal lead at half time.

Town then introduced Tom Sams in place of Sam Gibson on 58 minutes.

The visitor then grabbed two goals in the space of five minutes in the 66’ and 71’ minutes to send the game into a tense affair with only around 20 minutes remaining.

Between the two goals from the visitor, Ben Mills was substituted on in place of Micah Obiero in the 69’ minute.

Drama followed in the closing stages of the game, as the visitor were granted the perfect opportunity to take a point back to Bristol having been awarded a penalty late in added time. The eventual penalty was saved by Town ‘keeper Luke Mewitt to ensure Leigh Bromby’s side secured the win.
