Leigh Bromby’s Under-18 side faced Cadiz CF for the second of their trio of games on the LFE tour in Seville, but were defeated by five goals.
Much like the Tomares friendly, the Town side selected was again a young one, with the starting eleven made up mostly by first-year scholars.
The game started early at 10am (9am UK Time), and as the midday Spanish sun drew in, the match conditions became increasingly difficult for the Town side.
The game didn’t get off to the best of starts as the Spanish side took the lead only 11 minutes in. The bad luck continued 20 minutes later as Cadiz grabbed a quickfire second and third goal in the 31st and 34th minutes to send them into the break with a 3-0 lead.
The Spanish side grabbed its fourth and fifth goals in the 50th and 60th minutes respectively to run out 5-0 winners on the day.
Despite the defeat, the challenging conditions and difficulty of opposition provided a good test for Leigh Bromby’s side in preparation for the start of the upcoming Under-18 Professional Development League.
