4 August 2017

Town Under-18’s lose out in Seville

- Under-18’s played their first game of their LFE tour in Seville
- Bromby’s side defeated 3-2
- Ben Mills & Saul Milovanovic with the goals for Town.

Leigh Bromby’s side played the first game of their two-week LFE tour of Seville and despite taking the lead, were defeated 3-2.

The Town side selected by Bromby was a young one made up, in the most part, of first year scholars with Sam Gibson and Cameron Taylor the two exception's to the starting eleven.

Despite the game being an evening kick-off of 7.15pm local time, the conditions proved to be extremely challenging for Town with temperatures still around the 30-degree mark at the start of the game.

Much like the conditions, Town came out red hot and took the lead in the 39th minute through Cheshire-born forward Ben Mills, turning in an initial rebounded shot off the goalkeeper from fellow front-man Micah Obiero.

Half-time came and it was the Spanish side that were to get the next goal on 48 minutes, as a controversial quickly taken free-kick was converted whilst Town were still preparing their wall, much to the dismay of Leigh Bromby’s side.

The Spanish side increased their lead 12 minutes later completely against the run of play, converting from a chance created by a break-away to give them a 2-1 lead.

Town were looking for a response, but were again hit by an incisive Tomares break, with the Spanish side taking their chance from a 3 on 1 counter to double their lead on 81 minutes.

Substitute Saul Milovanovic was able to grab a consolation goal, thumping in a free-kick from the edge of the area into the top left corner, giving the Tomares ‘keeper no chance. But in the end, it turned out to only be a consolation as Town lost out 3-2.
