Winger departs for the 2017/18 season
- Sean Scannell departs Town on loan
- Long-serving winger joins Burton Albion
- Loan runs until May 2018
Huddersfield Town winger Sean Scannell has today joined Sky Bet Championship side Burton Albion on a Standard Loan.
‘Scanz’ is one of Town’s longest-serving players, having joined the Terriers ahead of the Club’s first season back in the second tier in 2012 from Crystal Palace.
He’s played 171 times across the last five seasons, scoring nine goals. One of those strikes was the first of David Wagner’s time at the Club in a game at Sheffield Wednesday in November 2015.
Sean made eight starts and seven substitute appearances during Town’s promotion campaign last term.
He will now join Burton Albion, managed by Nigel Clough, for the Club’s second ever season in the Sky Bet Championship.
Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner commented:
“This loan move is a good one for the Club and for the player.
“’Scanny’ is a great character and has been an important part of our squad, but we now have an overload of options on the right side of our midfield.
“I am absolutely sure he will go to Burton and be a big success for them; we all wish him the best of luck for the season.”
