EIGHT TOWN PLAYERS ON INTERNATIONAL DUTY

A number of Town players have been selected for international duty

Eight Huddersfield Town players have been called up for international duty over the course of the upcoming international break.

Town ‘keeper Jonas Lössl and defender Mathias Zanka have been called up to the Denmark national squad for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Poland and Armenia.

The first game will take place on Friday 1 September as the Dane’s host Poland at the Telia Parken Stadium with kick-off scheduled for 7.45pm. A second qualifier follows on Monday 4 September as Denmark travel to Armenia for a 5pm kick-off.

Philip Billing received his first call up to the Denmark Under-21 squad where his side begin their qualifying campaign for the 2019 UEFA U21 Championships in Italy and San Marino.

The first of their two games will take place on Thursday 31 August as the Young Dane’s travel to the Faroe Islands for a 4pm kick off. A five-day break follows before the Dane’s play their final game of the international break on Tuesday 5 September hosting Lithuania in Aalborg, with kick-off at 5pm.

Aaron Mooy will be in World Cup qualifying action for Australia. The Socceroos are yet to be defeated in their qualifying campaign and currently sit third place in their six-teamed group, trailing Japan and Saudi Arabia with only two games remaining.

A trip to second-place Japan on Thursday 31 August for an 11.35am kick-off (UK time) takes place before the Socceroos close their qualifying campaign hosting Thailand in Melbourne on Tuesday 5 September at 11am (UK time).

Elias Kachunga is in the Democratic Republic of Congo squad that will play over the international break in the African regional World Cup qualifiers.

‘Kache’ is ineligible for the first game on Friday 1 September away in Tunisia but will be available for selection in the second fixture, also against Tunisia, at the DR Congo national team stadium in Kinshasa. This game will take place on Tuesday 5 September with kick off at 6.30pm (UK time).

Kasey Palmer (below) has been selected for Aidy Boothroyd's Under-21s squad that will play two fixtures against the Netherlands and Latvia.

The Young Lions will firstly travel to Doetinchem to face the Netherlands on Friday 1 September at 5pm, before hosting Latvia at Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium on Tuesday 5 September with kick off at 7.45pm.

Following his penalty heroics that helped his England U20 side win the Toulon Tournament, Ryan Schofield is in the England U19 squad for a double-header against Poland and Germany.

The Young Lions will face Poland on Friday 1 September at St George’s Park and then will play Germany at Mansfield Town’s One Call Stadium on Tuesday 5 September with kick off at 7.45pm.

Defender Danny Kane will be looking to help his Republic of Ireland U21 side qualify for the 2019 U21 World Cup in Italy with a qualifying fixture over Azerbaijan.

The game will take place in the Azerbaijani Capital of Baku on Tuesday 5 September with kick off scheduled for 4pm.
