LOAN: RYAN SCHOFIELD JOINS FC UNITED

8 April 2017

Emergency loan runs from today until 13 April 2017

-    Ryan Schofield joins FC United of Manchester on an emergency loan deal
-    Loan runs from today until 13 April 2017 inclusive
-    Schofield is eligible to face Bradford Park Avenue this afternoon

Huddersfield Town Academy goalkeeper Ryan Schofield has today joined FC United of Manchester on an emergency loan deal until 13 April 2017 inclusive.

This is the goalkeepers first loan move since joining the Club’s Academy at Under-9 level from local junior side Lepton Highlanders.

The 17 year-old has made 25 appearances for Leigh Bromby’s Under-18s side this season and also made his England U18 debut in a 4-0 win over Qatar in March.

Schofield joins FC United of Manchester, who currently competes in the Vanarama National League North table – the sixth tier of English football – four below Huddersfield Town.

Managed by Karl Marginson, FC United of Manchester sits 14th in the table with 47 points from 37 games.

FC United of Manchester needs a ‘keeper after both its senior goalkeepers have recently sustained injuries.

The paperwork for Ryan’s loan has been completed in time for him to be eligible for FC United of Manchester’s league game away at Bradford Park Avenue today (Saturday 8 April 2017).

Lead Academy Goalkeeping Coach at Huddersfield Town, Paul Clements commented:

“I believe this is a great opportunity to give Ryan his first test of men’s football, playing for points in a very good league at a Club that attracts good crowds.

“If you look at all the top goalkeepers they were all exposed to men’s football at a young age and in my opinion Ryan is more than ready for this challenge.

“It makes perfect sense at this time of the year to send Ryan out on loan as it gives other goalkeepers in both the U23s and U18s to play for contracts, whilst also allowing Ryan to train with us and get First Team experience.”
