WILLIAMS MAKES ENGLAND U18 DEBUT

1 September 2016

Academy defender starts game at Fleetwood

- Jordan Williams makes England U18 debut
- Huddersfield Town defender plays 90 mins vs Italy
- Development Squad player could earn 2nd cap on Monday

Huddersfield Town Academy scholar Jordan Williams made his England Under-18 debut on Thursday evening in an international friendly against Italy.

The Meltham-born 16 year-old, who had previously been capped seven times at Under-17 level for the Three Lions, played 90 minutes in the 2-1 win against the Azzurrini.

Although he’s still in the first year of his two season Academy scholarship, Jordan has played exclusively for Town’s Under-23 side so far this season; starting the first two games of the Professional Development League season at right back.

Town’s Academy Manager Steve Weaver, Senior Professional Development Coach Frankie Bunn and Lead Professional Development Coach Tony Carss were on hand at Fleetwood Town’s Highbury Stadium on Thursday evening to watch Jordan in action.

Head Coach Neil Dewsnip’s side has another friendly in the North West on Monday evening, hosting Israel at Morecambe’s Globe Arena; another game where Jordan is in the squad.
