First monthly accolade for Town’s Head Coach

- David Wagner named Manager of the Month
- Town's Head Coach wins August Championship accolade
- DW: "I accept this on behalf of everyone at HTAFC"

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner is the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for August 2016!

David received his first monthly accolade since joining the Club as Head Coach back in November 2015 following a superb start to the 2016/17 campaign, with the Terriers taking 13 points from a possible 15.

An opening day home win over Brentford set the tone – and dismissed the memories of the season-ending 5-1 defeat in May – before a first win in 63 years at promotion favourites Newcastle United the following weekend.

Michael Hefele’s memorable late equaliser at Aston Villa secured a deserved point after a good second half display and then Town returned to winning ways, coming out on top in a competitive Yorkshire derby at home to Barnsley.

The month was capped off before the international break with the 1-0 home win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner commented:

“I accept the August ‘Manager of the Month’ award on behalf of every player, member of staff and everyone else connected with Huddersfield Town.

“Everyone here has worked unbelievably hard during pre-season and during August and they have earned the results that the team enjoyed.

“We are workers, not dreamers, so nobody here is getting carried away. You can never guarantee results in football, but we can guarantee that we will work as hard as possible to try and get more good results in September.”

Watch Wagner’s side back in home action against QPR on 17 September; tickets start from £15 adults!
